Credit Note Settlement Against Invoice
All credit notes will be settled against invoice balance and invoice is considered to be fully paid
Credit note posting routine needs to check if it reduces outstanding invoice balance to <= $0. If so, needs to trigger revenue recognition processes, if Advanced Revenue recognition methods are being deployed.
The following updates to the CREATE CREDIT NOTE rule set are required to accommodate the Sales Commission Sharing feature.
New Credit Note creation, based on source invoice number
1a. the Commission Details section of the Order Header needs to be populated with the matching commission details from the source invoice:
- salesperson
- commission %
- commission amount
NOTE: Commission Details / calculations will be affected as order detail lines are added to / removed from the credit note; so commission entries must dynamically recalculate for the credit note prior to posting.
Create Credit Note: Validate Commission Sharing
2. If Configuration: CommShare = Y AND Commission Earned > $0.00
2a. Add a pop-up Warning message: Do you need to update commissions?
YES: cancel credit note creation sequence and return user to the order header
NO: proceed to step 1b.
2b. Check Commission % Total = 100
if yes: proceed with credit note sequence.
if no: display error message and return user to the order header.
Error Message: Commissions have not been fully distributed. Please review the Commission Details
Detailed Commission Tracking
If the Detailed Commission Tracking feature is active, then detailed Commission records must reflect the % re-distribution created by the commission sharing feature
3. Configuration: DetailedCommissionTrackingNeeded = Y, then per Invoice Rules - detailed commission entries must be written, distributing the Salesperson commission amount/s as negative (credit) entries.
